Beyond every person, there are some very subtle issues of which they might not be fully aware. If we have grown up in an environment with feelings of insecurity, rejection, etc., chances are our psyche is wounded. These wounds may manifest in various forms in adulthood and affect our personal issues and even our relationships, becoming a source of further anxieties and insecurities. For example, due to distrust, we may not allow others to get close, out of fear of dependency we might withhold experiencing intimacy, or we may strive at any cost to keep others pleased with us.
In this regard, a therapeutic relationship creates a safe space where with the help of an empathetic therapist, the individual commits to facing their deepest psychological truths. In this safe space, lost and less experienced emotions are retrieved and embraced, enabling the individual to make changes and adjustments in their life with awareness.
