The mind within each of us has hidden aspects that are out of reach for consciousness and, therefore, unconscious. A psychodynamic therapist has to acknowledge the client about these aspects. The most important way to reach this goal is to let the client understand the defense mechanisms. These mechanisms are the crucial parts of our mind that keep the painful emotions, thoughts and fears out of consciousness. They keep us safe against difficult experiences in life. However, they are, most of the time, obstacles to our personal growth, life contentment, original self-esteem and joyful life.
In psychodynamic therapy, I help you understand your unique defense mechanisms and when you should let them go to achieve growth and maturity. Indeed, it is not possible to face all of the pains simultaneously in the course of therapy. Therefore, real growth is an eventual and a long process, not a sudden one. Throughout this rough patch, I try to provide you with the prerequisites for your growth and maturity.
